Who am?
I am a single parent who has cultivated considerable resilience, having raised two children with special needs and multiple disabilities. I consider each day a blessing that my son remains with us. My son was the person who inspired me to become an Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) teacher, stating, "You are the one person who truly understands their needs."
I started in my son's special education class. I volunteered all the time. So one day my son's teacher said you should work in special education. You are great with my students. It was a magical safe fun place for my son and I to grow with other families.

The most important question my son's teacher asked me one day was, “What is the most important thing you can do to help your child?” Oh, I was stunned.
He needed so much and I was so overwhelmed. We had been homeless and struggling with everything..
Her answer was so simple and profound. It changed my life forever! She said love them just the way they are. Then the magic will begin to happen. That is what I do every day year after year for my students because they are amazing just the way they are. They are my best teachers. I learn something new and exciting every day because being a special education preschool teacher is an honor and a privilege to me.
